Lupe Fiasco, who I believe is one of the best rappers of the current era, has been having problems with his record label Atlantic records with the release of his album Lasers. Basically Lupe wants it out but Atlantic is just setting on it.

Not only does Lupe want the album out but his fans do to. So much so in fact that some Lupe Fanascos are planning to hold a march and rally in front of Atlantic Records offices (1290 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10104) on October 15th 2010.

Though this is being run by fans Lupe has said he will be there.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out, will a lot off people show up? I only ask that because it's a lot to ask people not in NY to go there for a rally. Will the record label listen to the demands of the people? And why did the people running this draw the A fiasco into the anarchist A for their logo?

Ok so she took time of to have a life for herself and her kids fair enough (ok part of me want to be selfish and say she should have been making music but really taking time of for one's family is a good thing)

And she has new music in the works that great. Though she says she's not sure if it will be an album. Hmmm EP or maybe she will just release singles online.

I'm just happy to hear that she is working on some recordings but I have to say the miseducation of Lauryn Hill was a great album from front to back and it would be great to see her pull that off again. But if she thinks it's best to release her music in a different format then who am I to say different.

Listen to her talk I have to say Ms. Hill sounds different then I realize that the last time I heard her speak was years ago and she spoke as someone in their youth (20's) and right now she's more grown and speaks as such.

Hopefully this is the start of a real comeback since we had a few times that Lauryn Hill stepped back on the scene only to disappear again soon after.

Besides having her parts often cut in some parts of the country and not taken the common stereotypical roles Lena Horne's acting career was cut short because she was black listed during the McCarthy era due to her leftist views. Which at that time basically meant because she was for African Americans having equal rights.

But that didn't stop someone as talented as Lena Horne who just when back to singing in night clubs and having a long lasting singing career and she also kept acting in Broadway and even starred in her own one women show.

Rapper GURU died today

Keith Elam also known as Guru of Gang Starr and the Jazzmatazz series has died today from cancer. He was 43 years old.

A month ago Guru fell into coma and there was this whole thing about DJ Solar not allowing Guru's family members to see him.

And it seems likely that there will be even more drama after his death.

Here is a letter that is said (by Solar) to have been written before Guru died

"I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world," it begins. "I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options.

"I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

"My loyal best friend, partner and brother, Solar, has been at my side through it all and has been made my health proxy by myself on all matters relating to myself. He has been with me by my side on my many hospital stays, operations, doctors visits and stayed with me at my home and cared for me when I could not care for myself. Solar and his family is my family and I love them dearly and I expect my family, friends, and fans to respect that, regardless to anybody's feelings on the matter. It is my wish that counts. This being said I am survived by the love of my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized approved by Solar on behalf [of] myself and my son until he is of age to except on his own."

"I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events, tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this," wrote Guru. "I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ.

"As the sole founder of Gang Starr, I am very proud of what Gang Starr has meant to the music world and fans. I equally am proud of my Jazzmatazz series and as the father of Hip-Hop/Jazz. I am most proud of my leadership and pioneering efforts on Jazzmatazz 4 for reinvigorating the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre in a time when music quality has reached an all time low. Solar and I have toured in places that I have never been before with Gang Starr or Jazzmatazz and we gained a reputation for being the best on the planet at Hip-Hop/Jazz, as well as the biggest and most influential Hip-Hop/Jazz record with Jazzmatazz 4 of the decade to now.

"The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time. And we as a team were not afraid to push the envelope. To me this is what true artists do! So Keith Elam aka GURU wants his son to be taken care of by Solar and his family. That kind or alarms some bells if you are one the those who worry that Solar maybe doing something shady when Guru has been sick.

I also wonder how Guru's family is taking that bit of news.

It's interesting that Guru also didn't want his former Gang Starr DJ, DJ Premier to have anything to do with him or Gang Starr even after he has died.

Guru out of Coma? Maybe maybe not but this story has a lot of other crazy going around it

There has been news recently that Guru of Gang Starr was in a coma.

well the good news is this is now past tense as Guru is now out of a coma.

Now there has been a lot of misinformation about Guru's state. It seems that he was put into a coma for a surgery that was needed after the rapper had a heart attack.

Guru's nephew Justin, released a video stating that Guru current business partner and producer...I'm sorry SUPERproducer Solar isn't allowing his family to see him.

Solar then released a statement saying this isn't true and that Guru's family has been able to see him.

And even Guru (or someone for Guru) released this statement

"I am doing fine and I am recovering! I'm weak though. Solar is the only person who has the accurate info on my situation. Any info from anybody else is false! I appreciate your well wishes and all the love!"

But I don't know watching that video it seems heartfelt and it seems something has to to be up.

I'm not the only one that thinks so. Premier's manager Biggest Gord released this statement soon after a statement said to be release by Guru stating that he is fine and Solar is the only person that is giving out info on his condition.

So Guru regained consciousness and had the wherewithal to not only hear about how the world, via the [Internet], has been buzzing about him, his health and his current situation…but also the strength and mind state to issue a statement through his partner

So lemme get this straight….

From the rumor mill of he-said-she-said, he goes in for a second procedure on his back because the first wasn't as successful as hoped, while undergoing the procedure his lung collapses (he always had asthma) and he goes into cardiac arrest. Somehow he either slips into a coma or is medically induced into a coma. Either way he's in a coma. The news gets out, allegedly from his sister. Supposedly he's having a procedure done because of the collapsed lung (you can assume it's a tracheotomy if you want--I ain't no doctor). Everyone starts calling everyone else to get some kinda verification or information and tweeting they hope the surgery is successful and so on and so forth. The ‘tweetenistas' continue to buzz with misinformation ("r.i.p guru…", etc), but still no concrete accurate factual info. Other people start tweeting about hearing from Premier and what he said to them. True or not true that's the day we livin' in--a new day…the information highway or THE MATRIX? You choose…

I wanna hear from the person or persons who Guru (allegedly) spoke those words to. Better yet his doctor, so they can look me in the face and tell me he woke from his coma and uttered those very words quoted in the quote--or even better, hear it from the horse's mouth. I know, I know…who the hell do I think I am? Label me a very concerned friend. Don't get me wrong--it's mad easy for me to want to believe that he would say those things and his partner would have the only accurate information on his situation. That's how they been getting down since last I saw my dude over 5 years ago. Only thing is I ain't hearing much from his partner until this…

"Guru is resting and doing well after his surgery," Solar told AllHipHop.com. "The doctors say that he will fully recover from his illness. We thank everyone who send prayers our way and we appreciate the outpouring of love from around the world!"

I just wanna know that my dude really did wake from that coma and spoke those words, because the alternative is just damn sad and disappointing. Until then I'ma keep praying, hoping, and waiting…

Jean Grae (who's birthname is Tsidi Ibrahim) was born on November 27th 1976 in Cape Town, South Africa and grew up in New York.

Music runs in Jean Grae's family, her father is Jazz pianist Abdullah Ibrahim and her mother is Jazz vocalist Sathima Bea Benjamin.

Jean Grae career started around 96 preforming under such names as Da Easter Bunny, What What? and Major Woody. Jean Grae was part of the hip-hop group Natural Resource. Not only di Jean Grae (then going by the stage name What? What?) rap but she was also a producer going by the name Run Run Shaw. During this time she also hooked up with the Brooklyn Academy crew.

In 1998 Natural Resource was depleted it was then when the rapper known as What? What? would change her name to Jean Grae and yes she did base her name on the Marvel Comic book character.

It seems the Harvard professor was having trouble with a jammed door and was trying to get into his home. a neighbor saw him and thought he was a bugler trying to break into the house and so they called the police.

The police officer came just as Skip Gates opened his door yet still wanted to talk to him. Henry Gates wasn't in the mode and didn't respond to the officer and accussed him of racism. In return the officer arrested Henry Gates Jr for disorderly conduct.

Robin F picked Browns cellular phone and picked up a three-page text message from a woman Brown had had a previous relationship with.

"A verbal argument ensued and Brown pulled a vehicle over in an unknown street. Reach over Robyn F with his right hand and open the car door and attempted to force her out. Brown was unable to force Robyn F out of the vehicle because she was wearing a seat belt. When he could not force her to exit he took his right hand and shoved her head against the passenger window of the vehicle causing an approx 1 inch raised circular contusion.

"Robyn F turned to face Brown and punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F's mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle. Brown looked at Robyn F and stated "I am going to beat the shit out of you when we get home! You wait and see!?

"Robyn F picked her cellular phone and called her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales. Rosales did not answer the telephone but while her voice mail greeting was playing Robyn F pretended to talk to her and stated "I am on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there? (this statement was made while greeting was playing and was not captured) after Robyn F faked the call, Brown and looked at her and stated, 'You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I really am going to kill you.'

"Chris Brown resumed punching Robyn F and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. She then bent over at the waist placing her elbows and face near her lap and in attempt to protect her face and head from the barrage of punches being levied by Chris Brown. Brown continued to punch Robyn F on her left arm and hands, causing her to suffer a contusion on her left triceps that was approx 2 inches in diameter and numerous contusions on her left hand. Robyn F attempted to send another text message to other personal assistant Melissa Ford. Brown snatched the cellular telephone out of her hand and threw it out of the window to an unknown street. Brown continued driving and Robyn F observed his cellular phone in his lap. She picked up the cellular phone with her left hand, and before she could make a call, he placed her in a head lock with right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand.

"Chris Brown held Robyn F close to him and bit her on her left ear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of [address] and Robyn F turned off the car removed the key from ignition and sat on it. Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F left and right carotid arteries causing her to be unable to breath. She began to lose consciousness. She reached up with her left hand and began to attempting to gauge his eyes in attempt to flee herself. Chris Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and released her. While Brown continued to punch her she turned around a place her back to against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest and placed her feet against Brown's body and began pushing him away.

"Brown continued to punch her on legs and feet causing several contusions. Robyn F began screaming for help. And Chris Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighbor heard Robyn F's plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F was issued a domestic violence protective order (EPO). Affiant conducted an interview with Melissa Ford who advised on Feb. 8 2009 at 2500 hours she received a phone call from Robin F from an unknown telephone number later identified as the telephone number of Officer Chavez. Robin F had advised Ford that she had been assaulted by Chris Brown. At approx at 1 am Chris Brown called Ford as nothing happened. Ford advised Brown that she had already talked to Robin F and was aware of what happened. Ford had advised brown that the neighbors had called police and that they were with Robyn F. Brown had asked Ford if robin F had provided police with his name. And ford advised him that she had. Brown hung up the telephone and did not call back.

"On Feb. 8, Brown turned himself in and was given a copy of the EPO and advised to not contact Robyn.

"On Feb. 17 Ford advised the affiant that she had received text messages from … a number that Ford recognized as belonging to Brown. In the text message Brown apologized for what he had done to Robin F. and advised Ford he was going to get help.""
